Best Scottish Tour Yet...

11th March 2008

Ok, so i feel like a proper lazy ass still in my bed at 2pm on a Tuesday but i have a bunch of emails to catch up on and am absolutely shattered from our recent trip back up North. I feel like Jackanory .. lemme tell ya all about it hehe..

We started it off on Wednesday up in Glasgow.. It was the first time we had played in Capitol but we were all buzzin about gettin back up to see the folks etc and playin another homecomin gig. The weather was miserable so it was nice to see so many people who ventured out to see us lol. We did a short but sweet set and after smashed glass across the front and a stage invasion i was left unable to do my forward roll... GUTTED heheh, never mind the crowd and reaction made up for it! Nice to show up at a venue and see Parka t-shirts walkin around, with all the people singin along to every word heheh. Thanks to everyone that came out to that.

After Glasgow, our next Scottish show was in Dundee Doghouse... which is apparently the View's second home so it was cool to see Kyle watchin our set. Spoke to him afterwards and he's proper sound! After the show, we went out to some underground club where all the girls had whiskers and moustaches? It was weird but a great little vibe. We also had our friend, Caldow, who came along with us, so our van was a tight squeeze but muchos fun! I managed to avoid throwin up after some bad Tesco's Sushi... the joys of touring! Hehehe... Back to the hotel for dvd's and more beer before headin off to our next location...

Edinburgh.... What can i say!!!! MENTAL !!! It was a Friday night and was the weekend of the rugby. Still wasnt expecting it to be as good as it was! The venue was Cabaret Voltaire and it was RAMMED !!! We were playing with local Edinburgh boys 'The Debuts' who we have been playin our Scottish shows with... everyone has to check em out as they are wicked and such a sound bunch of guys... There was a group of friends and family who came along but once again a compendium (Nootch taught me that word) of people i didnt know who were all along to have a crackin time and sing their little hearts out! We played our little hearts out lol. Its just so much of a buzz seeing people having such a good time to your music! After the gig I went out to say hi to everyone and we then went out to the city cafe for some late night drinking across the road. My friend Sprought was next to join our little expedition across Scotland and he came bearing gifts that put joy into the heart of me and Nootch... 10 boxes of Krafts 'Cheesy Pasta'... It's impossible to get down in London so at least we can go back to London with our supplies!!! So Thanks again to everyone in Edinburgh i had SO much fun!!!

Unfortunately Edinburgh was Caldow's last night with us as he had to head back to Glasgow but Sprought joined us for our next show which was in the Deen!!!

Aberdeen Tunnels.. one of my favourite Scottish venues and another thing i love about Aberdonians is they know how to party!!! Every time we go there are the same people but with an extra 20 or 30 extra... this time there felt like 200 extra hahah.. The place was rammed and it was an all ages show, so we all know what that means... crowd surfing/moshpits/stagediving lol.... By this point we were running on red bull and E numbers but none the less it was one of the most intense shows yet and the place erupting into an encore before we even managed to leave the stage, we stayed on and played 'Closing Time' which the crowd sung for us... and then we thought we'd try out recent XFM cover 'Ca Plane Pour Moi' which went down a storm... Loved it! Sprought got some great pics from the stage so i'll put them up on our myspace after this. Thankyou Aberdeen !!!!!!

Last up was The Greenside Hotel in Leslie, in Fife... Its a funny little venue as its in one of the smallest villages right next to Glenrothes but is home to so many good bands. There is a great little scene up there so even on Sunday night at 11pm you still get a crackin crowd who are just as up for it as if it was 8pm on a Fri night!!! The show was awesome and we made a bunch new friends... It was a great way to end the tour. Raegen who was the promoter also helps run the hotel so he put us up for the night! So after the show we all went back up to our room and listened to all the tunes and drank all the beers till 7am... but in the knowledge we had a few days off to rest hahah..

So thats pretty much the tour summary but i just want to say thanks SO much to everyone that came out to the gigs... It was AWESOME and we'll be back up again soon with our album release round the corner... Keep your eyes peeled for special 'Album release parties' which we'll be announcing very soon!!!

Much love,

And so the touring begins! (Part 2)

2nd March 2008

So after a few days on the road we were starting to feel the burn, but the trick is to work through it... that in mind, we knew were on our way back to the same bar that last time the promoters had one mission... to get us Messy.. so it looked like we were far from partied out heheh....

Bernaccias in Newcastle was a late addition to the tour as we were going to be in that area of the country so they slotted us in at the last minute. The venue is a small intimate affair and everyone there is awesome. We only booked the show a few days in advance so there was no promotion or anything but in saying that there was still a small army of people who came in... dancing and singing along to every word... that is probably the best part about touring, when getting a reaction like that when its so unexpected, so thanks so much for everyone that came out for us there.

We had an early-ish night before heading over to Hartlepool to play at the Escobar again. It was AWESOME !!! We did a session for radio Teesdale out in our van before the show and by the time we went in the place was RAMMED !!!! There were people from wall to wall all jumpin about like nutters. We managed to sneak out for a parmo (traditional Northeast delicassey) heheh. By the time we went on the place was mental and there was a barrier up that within 5 secs of us stiking a chord it ws knocked down and people getting crushed ... the security were straight in there so noone got hurt but what a reaction... like i said, its such a compliment when that happens so a massive thanks to everyone that came out to that show... MENTAL !!!! heheh...

So last night we were in Blythe for a club night at the Quay and we were playing our friends band The Target (check em out)... me and the singer, Lee, were both born in the same hospital and his family are all from my way despite living in the Northeast. They were on right before us and they were awesome... Apprently the club night at the Quay has been playing our tracks for a while so it great to see so many people singing along. Lee's whole family were there including his Nan and paps who i have to give a MASSIVE shoutout to. They were up for it as much as anyone, right at the front going mental and singing along, eventually stage invading along with others to join us for Closing Time which we did as our encore as we couldnt physically leave the stage lol. LEGENDS !!!!! heheh. After that it was a few more drinks till it really was closing time and back to the travel lodge.

We are in the van at the minute, on the way back to London as its our day off before we play at the Camden Barfly tommorrow night. It would be awesome to see some of you along there if you fancy it... we are doing an early perfomance as its a press show surrounding the release of our new single Better Anyway, which is out in April.... We will be onstage at 8PM tommorrow night at the Camden Barfly.. come along heheh.

Hope everyone is well and hope to see you soon,

Much Love and Hope all the mums oot there are havin a good Mothers Day...
